Official Records Contacts

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office maintains county booking records. Its two records counters serve the west slope and Tahoe areas. Call the appropriate office before sending personal information by fax or making a trip, since office schedules and request routing can change.

The following routes match common requests to the office or system that can answer them:

  • For a county booking record or photo, use the official lookup and records-request path, then contact EDSO Records.
  • For a warrant self-check, review Most Wanted; EDSO requires the subject to appear at a records office with valid photo identification.
  • For a recent incident or arrest, check EDSO Current Inmates and the selected daily Media Bulletins described on the home page.
  • For custody or release status, use the current-inmate roster or EDSO's VINE notification service. Placerville Jail is (530) 621-6000, and South Lake Tahoe Jail is (530) 573-3030.
  • For a city police report, start with Placerville Police or South Lake Tahoe Police. The jail booking record still belongs to EDSO.
  • For a person serving a California state-prison sentence, use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's CIRIS search.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the separate Federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator. Neither is an El Dorado County arrest-history source.
